While working with a Direct Selling company years ago, I had to do a presentation on goal setting at the company's national convention. While preparing for my talk, I ran upon the following quote:
"If you don't know where you are going, how will you know if you're on the way there?"
I have no idea who first said this. I just know it struck a chord with me when I first heard it. So much so, that I wrote it on a piece of poster board and taped it to my office wall. It's a great reminder when I'm feeling stuck or like I'm getting off track.
Are you feeling stuck?
Do you even know where to start?
Look at the first part of the quote again. Where do you want to go? What is it that you want to accomplish?
That is your big goal, your vision. Now it's time to break that down into smaller steps, more managable tasks that will eventually lead you to where you want to be. It's like taking a road trip to someplace you've never been. You've decided on your destination, now you need the map to tell you which roads and exits that you need to take in order to get there.
Not sure what steps you need to take to get there? Try brainstorming, make a list of all the possible things you may need to do, set a time frame for getting these things done. Maybe you're not sure how to do some of the tasks. It's been said that once you have a clearly defined goal, with genuine feeling and desire, that you start to take action on, the 'how' will just come and things will begin to fall into place. It may be in the form of additional knowledge that comes along or even people that show up in your life.
The universe has a funny way of bringing you what you need when the time is right. You just need to know what you want and be ready for it when it appears.
